TZR LLP (TZR), a leading provider of dynamic, forward-thinking accounting and advisory services, is delighted to announce the appointment of Shirley Lin as Director to lead our IFRS assurance and advisory practice. Her arrival marks an exciting step forward in our firm’s continued expansion and reflects our commitment to delivering deeper expertise, enhanced innovation and exceptional service to our clients.
Shirley began her career at Grant Thornton before joining KPMG, where she progressed to Senior Manager in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) practice. Over the course of her career, she has managed complex audits for large multinational companies listed in both Canada and the U.S., including TSX-listed companies and SEC registrants. She has also guided some of the most prominent companies in the TMT sector through initial public offerings (IPOs), acquisitions and internal control audits, solidifying a reputation for technical excellence and strategic insight.
A recognized innovation leader, Shirley helped design bespoke audit routines and workflows that embedded machine learning into KPMG’s core processes, enhancing both audit quality and efficiency. Engagement teams routinely sought her guidance as the go-to resource for data and analytics solutions, and she served as the lead of the firm’s technology committee, shaping how emerging technology was deployed across engagements.
Shirley’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Commerce from the Rotman School of Management and a two-year master’s degree in Cognitive Analytics from Simon Fraser University, where she focused on applying AI and data-driven methodologies to elevate audit execution and accuracy.
Beyond her client work, Shirley is deeply engaged in the community. She served as Audit Chair for a not-for-profit organization in Markham and was recognized by the Mayor of Markham, who presented her with the city’s “40 Under 40” Award and the “ASPIRE Award” for Young Professionals for her professional and community contributions. She is also active in Women Mentorship in Accounting initiatives, where she helps to develop future leaders by mentoring local students who are exploring careers in accounting.
